Short Summary Surfacing, a novel by Margret Atwood is a part detective novel, part psychological thriller. This book is the story of a recently divorced talented woman artist who goes in search of her father along with her lover Joe and her two friends, David and Anna. The story is interwoven with lies, deception, violence, sex and death. The story, though quite interesting, is a bit to comprehend. The unnamed narrator narrates the story like a pendulum, oscillating between the past and present. Everything around her seems to be a reminder of some incident in the past.
