300: Rise of An Empire Review
“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” “A woman is capable of changing the whole course of history”.The
movie can be summed up in the above two lines.
The first 300 dealt with Leonidas and his brave 300. The
second part revolves around the events that led to the war. The second part
simply has a different point of view. The term sequel would not apply to the
second part as the movie has a different POV from the first. The battle shifts
from land to sea.
Artemisia played by Eva Green has the most powerful role in
the movie. Eva is at her evil best. She changes the course of history by
creating the God king Xerxes to quench her thirst of revenge on Greece. She has
a blood lust to destroy all of Greece and she does not spare anyone in her
rampage. She meets her match in Themistocles in cunning, bravery and strategy.
The rest of the story is filled with blood, gore and
violence along the lines of the first movie. The overall tone and hue of the
movie gives the viewer a feel of the Greek period.
